Apartment Quest/New Music

Mercury’s in retrograde again! My roomies and I have been trying to find a new place and everything is going wrong. No one has been responding to our inquiries, google maps have given us the wrong directions, and the most promising prospects turn out to be dismal derelicts. Yet there’s something satisfying about fighting this battle; as I told one roomie the other day, I have a feeling that the more we struggle, the better our new place will be for us. I hope I’m right!
On the music front, things are moving along nicely. I’m slated to record a bunch of stuff in June, both with Aaron Griffin and Will Crum, and most importantly, myself. If all goes as planned, I’ll have a new E.P. by the end of June tentatively titled “Chasing Hurricanes,” after one of my recent songs. The rest of the songs were written within the last year and reflect what I think is a major step towards my sound and style. I’m calling it country-jazz because I think that sums up what my sound is like while also invoking the blues and folk, which is where my music comes from.
Two new albums I’ve heard recently that rocked my boat: Bruce Springsteen’s “We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions” and (not surprisingly) Neil Young’s “Living With War.” Both of these albums are like giant locomotives barreling down the track at a thousand miles an hour. They’re full of life and creativity and both couldn’t be more relevant to today’s world and politics. Check ‘em out!
