Play Reading Tonight – The Dark Sister
May 18th
My play reading for The Dark Sister performs tonight at 7:30pm at the Off-Market Theatre, Studio 250, 965 Mission St in San Francisco. Tickets are $10-20.
The Dark Sister by Vonn Scott Bair, directed by Aine Donnelly. Sonoma County, 1875. The dark-haired Moira Bannon fights her fair sister Mary for the love of James London, who loves Moira but who is contractually bound to marry the younger sister. The tensions between the sisters grow until Moira, in a crime of passion, drowns her sister in the river. She gets away with the murder and will now marry James. But if Mary is dead, then who–or what–is that young woman staring at Moira through the kitchen window? Adapted from and English 17th Century folk tale, The Dark Sister is Bair’s newest play and his first good old-fashioned ghost story.
Understudying for Two Gents plus a play reading!
Apr 16th
I just confirmed that I’ll be understudying both Proteus and Valentine for The Two Gentleman of Verona at San Francisco Shakespeare Festival this summer! Two of my favorite roles in one of my favorite plays!
Also, on May 18 I’ll be doing a staged reading of a new play called The Dark Sister at Playwrights Center SF. Details to follow…
Socha Cafe, April 9th
Apr 15th
I had a great night last Friday, April 9 when I played a set at Socha Cafe in the Outer Mission in SF. I played a double bill with my friend Bill Rupel. Here’s a pic:
Set list included my songs, “Election Day,” “Chasing Hurricanes,” “Honesty Gets Me In Trouble,” “Bartholomew,” “Valley of Heart’s Delight,” “Thick of It All,” two old ones, “Gypsy Roses” and “Azusa,” and two new songs, “Here’s The Thing” and “Poor Drifter.” The audience liked the new ones, so I think they’re keepers!
